Ukraine tripled its weapons production last year

Ukraine tripled its weapons production last year and 500 companies are currently working in the defense sector. This was stated on Sunday by Ukrainian Minister of Strategic Industries Oleksandr Kamishin, quoted by Ukrinform and BTA.

“Last year, our defense industry delivered three times more products than in 2022. The capacity for 2024 is six times that of last year,” he told a televised forum. However, the minister added that no matter how much this type of production increases in Ukraine, the Ukrainian army’s need for artillery is greater than the capabilities of Ukraine, the United States of America and the European Union combined.

Kamishin also said that Ukraine has started the production of long-range weapons, and hinted that some of them will soon be delivered to the front. “Last year our defense forces began striking strategic targets deep in Russia’s rear using weapons made in Ukraine. Last year we saw our unmanned aerial vehicles in action both in the air and at sea. This year will be the year we’ll see them on land. This will be the year you hear more about ground robotic systems,” he stressed.

In a separate address, Mykhailo Fyodorov, Minister of Digital Transformation, said 90 percent of the drones used on the battlefield against Russian forces were made in Ukraine, Reuters reported.

The main topics of the event, in which the ministers participated, are the achievement of Ukraine’s goals in the ongoing war, the development of the country’s defense and security forces, the management of the national defense and industrial complex, the provision of economic growth and the integration of Ukraine into world markets, the implementation of President Volodymyr Zelensky’s peace formula, the achievement of security guarantees and the protection of Ukrainian lives.
