Ukraine: Russia fires missiles at Odessa port after grain deal

Yesterday, Russia and Ukraine signed an agreement to resume grain exports through ports on the Black Sea. That agreement should make it possible to get grain from the port of Odessa. Odessa is one of the main export ports of Ukraine on the Black Sea.

According to the Ukrainian army, cruise missiles have been fired at the port. Two of them would have hit ‘port infrastructure’, a local government official and a Ukrainian army unit said on Telegram.

The Ukrainian government says Putin is “spitting in the face” of the UN and Turkey with the attack. They helped close the deal in recent weeks.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs calls on the UN and Turkey to ensure that Russia complies with the agreements.

Wheat price down

The agreement was welcomed worldwide. The price of wheat fell last night to pre-Russian invasion levels in Ukraine.

In the US, the wheat price on the Chicago stock exchange fell by 5.9 percent. In Europe, the wheat price even fell by 6.4 percent.
