The worsening of the crisis between Russia and Ukraine, with Kiev under attack by the Russians, has blocked Shakhtar Donetsk coach Roberto De Zerbi and his 8-person staff in a hotel in the Ukrainian capital. After the invasion, the Ukrainian Football Association announced the suspension of the championship which was due to restart over the weekend, at the moment the Kiev airport is closed.
With De Zerbi and his staff blocked in the hotel most of the players, Shakhtar had returned from training in Turkey, where they had continued their preparation during the winter break of the championship, on Saturday the away match at Metalist from Kharkiv was scheduled.
