U.S. Secretary of State Tony Blincoln says Ukraine has reclaimed half of its territory lost to Russia.
Secretary Blincoln said in an interview with CNN on the 23rd that Ukraine still faces a “very tough fight” to regain more territory.
Minister Blincoln said that Ukraine’s counterattack is still in its infancy and is still difficult, saying that it will take several months, not one or two weeks, for the counterattack to gain strength.
As Ukrainian forces struggle to break through Russian positions in the south and east, hopes that Ukraine’s summer counteroffensive will quickly clear Russian forces from its territory are dwindling.
Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier claimed the same day that Ukraine’s counterattack against Russia had failed.
President Putin invited Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko to St.
Putin said he would meet with Lukashenko on the 23rd and 24th to discuss security and other issues “in great detail and in depth.”
Previously, the Kremlin had credited President Lukashenko for brokering last month’s negotiations to end a rebellion by the Wagner group led by Yevgeny Prigozin.
