Ukraine receives support from NATO member states: Updates from the NATO meeting in Vilnius

“Ukraine has the support of NATO member states”. This was stated by Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov after the end of the NATO meeting in Vilnius.

The so-called preparation plan for Ukraine has been removed, they have gone through many of the steps, which simplifies the way of acceptance – in one stage. There was decisive, quite serious aid to Ukraine, economic and military.

At the moment, a declaration from the G-7 group is being presented, which provides a framework approach, on the basis of bilateral agreements, each of the countries can cooperate with Ukraine, Denkov specified.

The Prime Minister of Belgium at the NATO summit: We are not at war with Russia

China is not seen as an adversary, the country is an economic competitor, we must look for common topics on which to work together, Denkov said.

The second military package for Ukraine is already in preparation. It is similar in content and volume to the first. I especially want to emphasize that I sense a certain hypocrisy and accusation as to why we are sending such a package, commented the Prime Minister.

He emphasized that it is important that help arrives on time. “It is tailored to what it needs from Ukraine. But the principle is this – they give a list of what interests them. We look at what is needed for our military. We can send the rest”, added Denkov.

The Prime Minister also commented on the fifth resolution voted by the European Council calling for the accession of Bulgaria and Romania to the Schengen Area by the end of 2023. 526 people voted in favor of the decision, 57 votes were “against” and 42 “abstained”.

“Even after the European Council, I said that we have to do our job. According to the report, we have changes in the anti-corruption law, which are forthcoming and have been submitted to the parliament. If they are completed by the end of this session or September at the latest, that is a very strong sign that we can use, especially for the Netherlands. With Austria, we must work to convince that the fight against organized crime against migrants and the fight along the border itself are being conducted in the best possible way,” said the Prime Minister.
