‘Ukraine lost about 10,000 soldiers’ • Biden: ‘Zelensky didn’t want to hear’ about invasion

In the more than three and a half months that the war has now lasted, about 10,000 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed. An adviser to President Zelensky said this in an interview with a member of the Russian opposition on YouTube. The death rates on both sides are believed to be higher than admitted.

At the end of May, President Zelensky was still talking about 50 to 100 Ukrainians killed every day. Another advisor to Zelensky said Thursday that that number had risen to 100 to 200 due to the heavy fighting in the Donbas.

Zelensky’s adviser Oleksi Arestovych said in an interview with the Russian opposition member that the number of soldiers killed at the start of the war was also 100 a day. When asked whether a total of 10,000 soldiers could then be assumed, Arestovych said: “Yes, approximately.”

According to him, the losses on the Russian side are now greater than on the Ukrainian side. He estimates that 600 Russians were killed yesterday. But to push them back will require more artillery fire, he said. Arestovych also said that the Ukrainian armed forces are achieving success thanks to Western support. Without that support, the Ukrainians would presumably have been pushed back to the Dnipro River.
