Ukraine claims extreme sniper fire

The National Guard of Ukraine has posted a video of the shotwhich will be filmed through the scope of the sharpshooter, on social media.

Shows the shooter aiming at an infrared target on the horizon and walking away. Shortly thereafter, what should be a Russian soldier falls to the ground.

– When sunset falls, snipers of the special forces of the National Guard of Ukraine go hunting. Quick and accurate work by one of them yesterday, writes the National Guard on video.

The Communications Office of the Armed Forces of Ukraine also shared the footage.

They claim the shooter “came very close to breaking the world record for the longest fatal sniper shot ever.”

– The occupant was eliminated by an accurate shot carried out by our special forces from a distance of 2,710 meters – a distance which now secures him second place in the world rankings, they write.

This article was written before there were reports of explosions in Poland on Tuesday evening, and the content of this case therefore has no connection with this.

He claims it has been confirmed

The communications office writes that the firing and range were confirmed by the Ukrainian Defense Command.

If true, it is – as they say – the second longest fatal sniper shot on record. The first place is occupied by an anonymous Canadian soldierwho skated an Islamist at 3,540 meters in Iraq in 2017.

Second place was taken by Briton Craig Harrison, who skated two Taliban fighters at a distance of 2,475 meters in Afghanistan in 2009, according to British media.

However, Ukrainian forces are providing few details about the alleged coup, such as where it was taken, when and what weapons and ammunition were used.

Sow doubt

There are therefore doubts about the video and its authenticity.

Some write on social media that the infrared figure – the alleged Russian soldier – that appears in the shooter’s viewfinder would not have been so large and clear from a long distance.

Several also point to the short time that elapses from the moment the shooter fires the shot to the moment the soldier falls to the ground: just under two seconds, according to the video.

When the Canadian took first place for longest shot in 2017, the Canadian military said that he and his team had recently practiced long-range shooting, that he was using a McMillan TAC-50 rifle, and that there are it took about ten seconds from the time the shot was fired to hit the target.

When Harrison took what has until now been considered second place in 2009, he said the conditions were “perfect”, with no wind, mild weather and good show, and that he was using an L115A3 rifle, according to British media.
