Ukraine and UN allies condemn attacks on evacuations

Ukraine and allies have condemned the UN’s “attacks” on relief operations in Kherson, asking Russia to allow “unhindered” access to aid after the destruction of the Kakhovka dam. “We strongly condemn the shelling of the evacuation areas and call on the Russian authorities to stop such attacks and allow unhindered aid to the affected populations,” said the Ukrainian ambassador to the UN Glass Palace, Sergiy Kyslytsya, together with some members of the Council of Security (USA, France, Great Britain, Japan, Malta, Albania) and to the member states of the European Union. “We also ask Russia – he added – to allow full, safe and unhindered access to the affected areas on the left bank of the Dnieper River, which is under the control of its army, so that humanitarian actors, in particular the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross, can help the inhabitants”.
