UKRAINE: Alain Houpert denounces “an act of war 2000 kilometers from Paris”

“Now is the time for the European Union to get out of its bureaucracy to ensure and take charge of the security of all Europeans in the constant search for peace”, declared the senator from Côte-d’Or, member of the Republicans.

Press release from Alain Houpert of February 24, 2022:

Last night, the Russian Federation committed an act of violation against the sovereignty of Ukraine.

This attack is an act of war 2000 kilometers from Paris and the failure of European diplomacy.

The President of the Republic cannot be blamed for having sought to engage Vladimir Putin on the paths of negotiation. On the other hand, we can denounce inappropriate and opportunistic communication in the face of a real threat.

Be that as it may, the time has come for unity to bring our support to the Ukrainian people and to continue to call for diplomacy, to avoid any escalation which would be an unprecedented drama since the Second World War on the lands of Europe.

Europe has been able to guarantee peace for 80 years. It is now time for the European Union to emerge from its bureaucracy to ensure and take charge of the security of all Europeans in the constant search for peace.
