Ukraine Accused of Firing Cluster Bombs at Russian Village Near Border

Ukrainian forces fired cluster bombs at a village close to the Ukrainian border on the 21st, the Russian governor of Belgorod said in a telegram on the 22nd.

However, it said there were no casualties or damage.

“In the village of Zurabrevka in the Belgorod region, 21 shells and 3 cluster bombs were dropped by Ukrainian forces from multiple rocket launchers,” said Governor Vacheslav Gladkov.

Ukraine received cluster bombs from the United States this month. However, I have promised to use cluster bombs only to prevent enemy concentrations.

Cluster bombs contain small bombs that bombard a large area with shrapnel.

However, it has been banned in many countries because of its potential danger to civilians.

Ukraine has repeatedly said that the use of cluster munitions will be limited to the battlefield.

Russia has accused Ukrainian forces of frequent and indiscriminate shelling of the Belgorod region bordering Ukraine.

In May and June, the region was rocked by fighting after pro-Ukrainian military formations crossed the border and fought Russian forces.

However, the Ukrainian government denies any involvement in the attack on Russian territory.
