(Reuters = Yonhap News) On the 23rd of last month (local time), the Ukrainian capital was cut off from its electricity supply due to Russian rocket attacks, leaving the entire city in darkness except for car lights.

(Geneva = Yonhap News) Correspondent Ahn Hee = 507 regions in 8 provinces were reported to be without electricity as Russian forces have intensely attacked Ukraine’s energy infrastructure since October.

According to the AFP news agency, Ukrainian Deputy Interior Minister Yevgen Enin said in an interview with the local Ukrainian broadcaster on the 4th (local time) that “Russian forces are repeating attacks on critical infrastructure”.

He said, “Kharkizhuzhuzh was hardest hit by the power outage in 112 areas, and about 90 areas in Donetsk, Kherson, Mykolaiu, Zaporizhia, Luhansk, etc. were also cut off.”

Russia hits Ukraine’s energy infrastructure nearly every week since early October.

On the 23rd of last month, more than 70 missiles were fired across Ukraine, causing power outages in several places, including the capital Kiiu, Kharkiv in the north, Lviv in the west and Odessa in the south.

“Currently, almost half of Ukraine’s power grid remains damaged,” Ukrainian power company Ditec said in a statement.
