UK-EU agree to continue’future relations negotiations’ | Voice of America

On the 13th, the UK and the European Union decided to continue’future relations negotiations’, including trade agreements after the Brexit transition period, as the deadline was nearing the end.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and European Commission Commissioner Ursula von der Leien made a joint statement over a phone call on the morning of the 13th and said they agreed to further negotiate to prevent the catastrophe of Nodeal Brexit.

In a joint statement, they discussed major issues that have not yet been resolved, and explained that they had thoroughly reviewed the negotiations for a year, and that despite the deadline, they now have a responsibility to put more efforts.

The statement said that the two sides have instructed the negotiating team to continue negotiations and see if an agreement is possible.

Earlier, the UK and the EU agreed to meet in Brussels, Belgium on the 9th and make a clear decision on the future of the negotiations by the 13th through additional negotiations.

Trade relations within the Brexit Agreement, passed by the EU and the British Parliament, include matters other than goods and human mobility, so British citizens are not allowed to enter EU member states without a visa.
