The general secretary of UGT Asturias denies the possibility of enter tolls on the highways of the region. Javier Fernández Lanero thus responds to the proposal launched by the construction companies to charge 0.09 cents per kilometer.
The measure was launched this Thursday by the employers’ association of the construction companies. The objective is to raise almost 5,000 million euros that would be used for road maintenance. How does this affect Asturias? A driver who wants to do the route between Gijón and Oviedo I would pay something more than five and a half euros for the round trip. That in the case of the private vehicle since for the merchandise transports the cost would amount to almost 12. Another example is that of the mining company, 34 kilometers of payment between Mieres and Gijón; above 6 euros, almost 13 for carriers.
The initiative did not like the unions. From UGT, its secretary general, considers it bad news and far from creating taxes, he insists on the need to suppress payments like Huerna’s so that companies and investors can reach the Principality.
The union leader has also spoken of another of the major subjects in the region; the air connections. Lanero says that the possibility of subsidizing routes should be studied according to their interest, although what is really important, he says, is to draw a strategic plan that also reduces travel from Asturias airport to other points of the community.
