France ” The appeal trial of UBS, condemned in February 2019 to a record fine of 3.7 billion euros (almost 4 billion francs) in a tax evasion case, will take place from March 8 to 24, 2021 before the Paris Court of Appeal.

Originally scheduled from June 2 to 29, the hearing was postponed due to the “impossibility for several people to come and explain themselves”, some defendants residing in Switzerland, in the context of travel restrictions linked to the Covid pandemic -19, said President François Reygrobellet.

Hearings will be held Monday afternoon, Tuesday all day and Wednesday morning, in front of Room 5-12 of the Court of Appeal, which specializes in financial crime.

In the first place, the first private bank in the world had been severely condemned for “illegal bank canvassing” and “aggravated laundering of tax evasion” from 2004 to 2012. Errors of “exceptional gravity” which “have their source in a structured, systemic organization and old ”, had ruled the Paris Criminal Court. The bank, which has consistently denied crossing the legality line, immediately appealed.
