Ubisoft Reportedly Working on Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Remake, Involvement of Ubisoft Singapore Team and Potential Features Revealed

Traditionally a very well-informed magazine my city claims that Ubisoft is preparing a remake of the popular game Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag from 2013. According to two sources familiar with the project, development is early and will take at least a few more years. What is interesting is that the Ubisoft Singapore team is reportedly involved in the project, which already helped with the development of the original and later threw itself into the “cursed” pirate spin-off Skull and Bones, which has been in the making for 10 long years. His task is to modernize the parts in which the player sails on the sea.

Otherwise, according to its text, Kotaku has no idea whether it will be a faithful remake, or whether the authors will try to supplement it with some modern elements that only came with the last parts. But in my opinion, such modifications of the gameplay and the attempt to graft the mechanisms of newer action RPGs onto the original gameplay would be rather harmful. According to Kotaku, the irony is that some of the Skull and Bones developers have also discussed, at least privately, that their own game could revert to something more Black Flag-like. In this vision, the game could offer cooperative exploration and melee combat. In reality, however, Skull and Bones is supposed to offer “only” sea battles and very limited activities on land.

Work longer and you get dinner

As for Skull and Bones, Kotaku has obtained an internal email in which management at the Singapore studio urges developers to work in the office and not remotely from home. They have breakfast and dinner available at work as a thank you, but Kotaku interprets this as a way to simultaneously get employees to stay at work longer and work more hours. All this in an effort to catch up with the release of the closed beta, which is due out in August.

Ubisoft’s spokesperson quite naturally refused to comment on the unofficial news in any way. If the publisher did everything right, a revamped Black Flag is pretty much a safe bet given its popularity and qualities. For most fans, this is one of the best episodes. When we think about whether it is necessary that it will receive an improved version relatively soon. Players joke in the discussions that it would be good if Ubisoft resisted the temptation to graft NFT or free-to-play elements onto Black Flag. The question is also whether it will really be a full-fledged remake, because until now Assasin has only received a few slightly improved versions.
