Ubisoft announces smartphone version of Rainbow Six Siege – Gaming – News

Ubisoft is working on Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Mobile, a mobile version of Rainbow Six Siege. The game will be available for iOS and Android and will allow players to compete in teams of five against five. The game will be free-to-play and will receive cards and Operators from Siege.

Rainbow Six Mobile looks like in many ways on Rainbow Six Siege, players can destroy certain parts of the game world and the mobile game modes like Bomb and Secure Area. The mobile game will also receive cards such as Border and Bank and weapons and Operators from Siege will appear in Mobile.

However, Ubisoft emphasizes that Mobile is not a copy of Siege. For example, ladders were removed from the mobile game because of their complexity and because they wouldn’t add much. The maps are about the same size, only they are ‘slightly modified’ when it comes to destruction, for example.

From time-to-kill is also a bit longer with Mobile, where according to Ubisoft it takes fifty percent longer in the mobile game to kill an opponent. This would make Mobile more forgiving. When you are killed as a player, teammates can still kill you revive† Weapon recoil has also been reduced to make the game easier for touchscreens.

The game will be free to play, Ubisoft expects to make money ‘mainly’ from paid cosmetic products. Unlocking Operators would be with in-game coins that can be earned during gameplay. Operators can also be tried once. When playing specific Operators, gamers unlock extras for that Operator. Ubisoft talks about weapon accessories and perks, which you can use to modify or improve the abilities of Operators. R6 Coins from Siege cannot be used in Mobile.

The game is deliberately not called Siege Mobile, because Ubisoft sees the mobile game as a reflection of the entire Rainbow Six series. “It starts out as Rainbow Six Siege, but eventually it will become its own thing.” It is not clear when the game will be available. Tests will start in the coming weeks. The game is being made by a new team within Ubisoft Montreal and is more than three years in developmentMobile development is separate from Siege. Rainbow Six Mobile will work cross platform between iOS and Android.
