“UACJ Students Participate in Anti-Rabies Vaccination Day in Juarez City”

Juarez City.- The Autonomous University of Ciudad Juárez (UACJ) represented by 160 university students from the Zootechnician Veterinary Medical Program, participates in the Anti-Rabies Vaccination Day that is currently taking place in the city, it was reported through a press release.

Thanks to these vaccination campaigns for dogs and cats that have been carried out in the region, rabies has been eradicated for 35 or 40 years, said teacher Víctor Manuel Alonso Mendoza, coordinator of the Zootechnical Veterinary Medicine career at said house of studies.

He indicated that the goal is to apply the vaccine to 88 thousand dogs and cats during this campaign, which takes place from May 8 to 12.

The vaccination campaign is organized by the Ministry of Health, through the Entomological Research and Bioassay, Zoonoses and Vectors Unit and is supported by the Autonomous University of Ciudad Juárez, through the Zootechnician Veterinary Medical Program, he said.

He reported that for this campaign 48 vaccination centers are being installed so that people can take their pets to be vaccinated and be protected against this disease.

He said that as a strategy of this campaign, the vaccination posts are installed in the peripheral areas of the city the first days and as progress is made in the application of the biological, the brigades are getting closer to the center of the city.

Vaccination posts are installed from 8:00 in the morning until 3:00 in the afternoon, reported teacher Alonso Mendoza.
