Two working days could be moved next year

LM explains that in 2025 there are two working days that fall between the holiday and the weekly rest period, that is, May 2 falls between the holiday on May 1 and Saturday, May 3, and November 17 falls between Sunday, 16 November, and the holiday, November 18.

The draft order provides that the working day is planned to be moved from Friday, May 2 to Saturday, May 10, and from Monday, November 17 to Saturday, November 8.

LM states that this will ensure the continuity of weekly working hours in the week from which they will be transferred, while employees will be provided with a greater number of rest days in a row, which they can use at their own discretion. In addition, the total number of working days in the calendar year will not change.

The Labor Law provides that if one working day falls between a holiday and a weekly rest period during the working week, the employer can designate this working day as a holiday and move it to Saturday in the same week or another week within the same month.

At the same time, this norm stipulates that the Cabinet of Ministers must issue an order on moving the working day to the next year no later than July 1 of the current year for the employees of the institutions financed from the state budget, for which a five-day working week is determined from Monday to Friday.
