Maëra’s family and Gaïla Dandoy own three restaurants in Hérault: the Oba establishments in Montpellier and at Crès and AFK, in Saint-Jean-de-Védas. With the health crisis, the two sisters work less. They create in December 2020, a home brunch service called Obrunch.
“We had already had the idea before the health crisis, but we did not dare to launch, says Maëra Dandoy. Let’s say it was a trigger.“Originally, the two sisters, aged 22 and 26, wanted to offer brunches on site. With the health crisis, they are falling back on home delivery.
The three family restaurants offer Japanese and Thai dishes: flavors very different from what you can find in a brunch. “We add an Asian touch to our brunches, explains Maëra Dandoy. For example, for the main course, you can choose between toasted sashimi, toast with sliced salmon and avocado, and stir-fried Thai noodles.“
This new activity does not make it possible to catch up losses linked to the health crisis. “It compensates a little bit, analyzes the 22-year-old restaurateur. And then, on the one hand, we reach a new clientele who did not know our restaurants, and on the other, we introduce the regulars to brunch.“
Obrunch delivers home brunch in and around Montpellier. The two young girls plan to continue this activity when the restaurants can once again welcome their customers. “On the other hand, we will rather offer them on site, in our restaurant in Montpellier., specifies Maëra Dandoy. It was our basic idea.“
