On July 1, the abolition of slavery in Suriname will be discussed again. Due to the corona measures, there will be no grand celebration this year during the Keti Koti Festival in Oosterpark Amsterdam. In order not to let this day go unnoticed in COVID time, parties have joined forces and there is a ‘live online Keti Koti Festival’ on Wednesday.

Programmer Sharon Fiasco (Rum on the Rocks, Vunzige Deuntjes and Serious Grind) and musician / producer Marlon Francis (including Passion and Kenny B, Sabrina Starke, La Rouge) collaborate with the Keti Koti Festival for this alternative Keti Koti event.

It will be a 2-part streaming with spoken word lectures, DJs and music formations, such as Passion, Legato, Op Maat and Black Harmony, interspersed with statements and vlogs by famous Dutch people about the abolition and legacy of slavery.

The streaming of Keti Koti Online is on Wednesday July 1 and starts at 3:00 PM, immediately after the NPO broadcast of the official commemoration in Oosterpark.

Time live streaming part 1: 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Time live streaming part 2: 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM

Live on July 1 via the Facebook page of Keti Koti Festival.
