Two of Days Gone’s top executives leave Bend Studios

In a series of tweets, creative director John Garvin has explained his departure from more than a year ago. John Gavin was heavily involved in the development of Days Gone, as well as previous titles such as Siphon Filter, Resistance: Retribution and Uncharted Golden Abyss. John Gavin was certainly no stranger to Bend Studios. John has taken a sabattical to focus on his hobbies, which include painting and writing. Quite different from the world of game development.

Why Gavin is now coming up with his outpouring is not entirely clear, but it could have everything to do with the departure of game director Jeff Ross, who left Bend Studios during this period. Ross’s announcement came five minutes after John Garvin’s, so there doesn’t seem to be a coincidence here. Whether the two gentlemen will do something together is not known.

Kind words to Bend, Sony and the fans

From the series of tweets it becomes clear that both gentlemen left without feeling resentful. A future collaboration with Bend Studio or Sony. On Twitter, both gentlemen exchange kindnesses and congratulations with, among others, Shuhei Yoshida. What the future will bring for Bend Studios is still unknown. It has been announced that work is underway on a new open world game, but whether this is Days Gone 2 has not yet been announced. Days Gone appeared exclusively on PlayStation 4 in 2019 and is part of the PS Plus collection that can be played on PlayStation 5 for PS Plus subscribers.
