WHO IS MICHAEL RECHNER?
Michael Rechner was born on May 27, 1980 in Germany. During his active career, he defended the goals of Hamburg, VfR Mannheim, Waldhof Mannheim, Sachsen Leipzig, Schweinfurt, Weinheim and Zuzenhausen.
While playing at Waldhof Mannheim, Stefan Kuntz, who now works as his assistant, was also the coach of the team. A National Team Assistant Coach Kenan Koçak was also his teammate at that time.
Rechner, who ended his professional football career in 2004 and continued to play football at an amateur level, started to study sports sciences at Heidelberg University. He prepared his master’s thesis with his study titled “Contemporary Training Methodology in Goalkeeping and the Profile of the Contemporary Goalkeeper”.
In 2008, he started to work as the goalkeeping department coordinator in Germany’s Hoffenheim club. Between 2008-2019, he worked as a goalkeeper trainer in the Bavarian State Football Federation. A graduate of the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz, Busenkell has been working as a physical performance trainer at the 1st FSV Mainz 05 club since 2000. He also undertook the same task in the German U21 National Team between 2007-2021. Under the leadership of Stefan Kuntz, he took part in the technical committee of the Germany U21 National Team, which won the UEFA European U21 Championship twice in 2017 and 2021. He worked with A National Team Assistant Coach Jan-Moritz Lichte in Mainz club.
