Two new measures planned as part of the reform of unemployment insurance – the duration necessary to benefit from an allowance and the degression of rights for the highest wages – will come into force on 1 December, announced Thursday the Minister of Work, Elisabeth Borne.
The entry into force of this reform has been postponed several times and carried out gradually, due to the economic crisis linked to the COVID-19 pandemic, but the government now considers that the improvement of the labor market situation (progress new hires, decrease in the number of job seekers) allows these two measures to be put in place.

The government suspended the entry into force of these two measures to improve the country’s economic conditions. With the fall in the unemployment rate and the improvement in the labor market, the executive decided that these conditions were met for the application of this aspect of the reform.
