Two-fifths of infected people have no symptoms – Wel.nl

According to the latest US figures, about 40 percent of people who become infected with the coronavirus have no symptoms. That is more than previously thought.

Of Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the US further estimate that the risk of transmission of the virus in the asymptomatic variant is 75 percent. It was previously said to be 100 percent, CNN reports. The percentage of infections without symptoms has risen from 35 to 40 percent according to the latest estimates.

In the new report the mortality rate is adjusted downwards. About 0.65 percent of infected people would die from the coronavirus. Although children are more likely to have no symptoms after infection, they may spread the virus, posing a risk to vulnerable groups, according to the CDC.
