Twitter prepares a function that will automatically block abusive accounts

Twitter is developing a new security tool that will protect users from abusive accounts.

This feature, which will be available to everyone, will automatically block all accounts that violate Twitter policies.

New tool to combat abuse on Twitter

Twitter has different dynamics focused on protecting users from trolls and abusive accounts. Some are implemented from its algorithms and others are available for users to use manually to block or report tweets and profiles.

However, these dynamics have not been enough to stop abuse and spam on the platform. Following this line, the Twitter team is working on a new tool that promises to automatically block all abusive accounts that violate the platform’s policies. Although Twitter did not give many details about its dynamics, it shared some screenshots showing how it might work.

For example, when the user activates this “Security Mode” Twitter will give extra protection, since when it detects an account that generates spam or its tweets show some type of abuse, it will prevent the user from interacting with that profile for about 7 days. In other words, it will “silence” these accounts for a certain time.

So it will prevent the user from having to deal with abusive tweets or insults, since they will not directly reach their profile. On the other hand, this tool will show the measures it has taken, so the user will see the accounts that have been detected and blocked for being abusive or generating spam.

From there, you can take other measures to protect yourself permanently, for example, blocking these accounts from the profile options. Twitter has not mentioned when they will implement this feature on the platform or if they are already running some kind of test to verify its effectiveness.

So we will have to wait until Twitter provides more details on this extra “Security Mode” that prepares to combat spam and abuse on the platform.
