Twitter Makes a New Feature Inviting Users to Fight Misinformation

Twitter is testing a new feature called Birdwatch which can identify misinformation (misinformasi) and provide context for a teaser.

With this feature Twitter users can also add more information that provides reasons why the information in the tweet is fake

This new feature will be placed in a new tab ‘Birdwatch Notes’ or “Birdwatch Notes”. This tab will be placed in the navigation bar next to Twitter.

Within the navigation bar there are also a number of other existing features such as Lists, Topics, Bookmarks, and Moments. By clicking the Notes tab Birdwatch, users can also track their own contributions.

Over the years, Twitter has relied on company discretion in dealing with misinformation. Twitter usually links themselves with known and trustworthy websites to find real news.

With features Birdwatch, Twitter can identify false information through the power of the masses or crowdsourcing. Thus, Twitter residents can help identify and report misinformation.

Launch Ubergizmo, users can use the features Birdwatch to flag posts that may contain incorrect information and then add their own notes to it.

This method is believed to be more efficient and helps reduce the burden on Twitter to identify posts that contain fake news.

However, it is not clear whether this feature can be used by all Twitter users or only a select few accounts.

Twitter declined to provide details regarding its plans for Birdwatch, but confirmed that the feature is designed to combat the spread of misinformation.

“We are exploring a number of ways to solve misinformation and provide more context for tweets on Twitter. Misinformation is a critical issue and we will test ways to solve it,” said a Twitter spokesman.

Launch Tech Crunch, Matt Navarra social media consultant, Birdwatch Allows users to attach notes to tweets. The note can be seen when clicking the binocular button in the tweet itself.

In other words, additional context about the statements made in the tweet will be open to the public.

In recent months, Twitter has tried to take a tougher stance against tweets that contain misleading, false, or inflammatory statements. It has even gone so far as to apply the fact-verification label to some of United States President Donald Trump’s tweets.

In addition, Twitter hides another tweet behind a notification warning the user that the tweet has violated Twitter’s rules.
