Twitch Announces Changes to Branded Content Policy, Restricting Ads and Impacting eSports

Yesterday, Twitch announced some serious changes to its branded content policy, including a ban on burned-in audio, images, and logos larger than 3% of the stream’s screen.

These restrictions are going to hurt sponsored streams and events, including eSports. It looks like most ads on the platform are now going to be heavily restricted, which is going to be problematic when many eSports streams also advertise accessories, snacks and other things while a tournament is going on.

Twitch has apologized for the backlash the changes have caused, and it promised to change the language in yesterday’s policy announcement, but it doesn’t appear the streaming platform is going to fully back down from these changes.

What do you think of these ad changes?
