TVP New Year’s Eve in Zakopane. The construction of the stage has started

On Wednesday, December 1, exactly one month before the end of 2021, trucks, excavators and forklifts entered Górna Rówień Krupowa in Zakopane. The Silesian workers who operated these machines began building a large outdoor stage. – The order is from the Polish Television – say the workers in an interview with Onet. – The stage will be really big. I don’t think we have built such a large object yet – they add.

Thus, it is already certain that the “New Year’s Eve of Dreams” in Zakopane will definitely take place. Onet informed Jacek Kurski about such plans in mid-October. As we established then, the Television at that time reserved accommodation for its employees.

TVP itself, however, claimed that it had plans to return to the Tatra Mountains with the New Year’s Eve, but the final decision in this matter was made dependent on the pandemic situation in Poland. Now it turns out that although the number of new infections is growing, President Kurski from Zakopane has not quit.

No details before December 17th

However, it is still unknown what the New Year’s Eve in Zakopane will look like. TVP is silent on this matter. – And I think that there will be no announcements on this matter before December 17 – says Anna Karpiel-Seberecka, deputy head of the press office of the City Hall in Zakopane. – A press conference is planned for this day in Warsaw, during which television will reveal the details of the event. It will be about who will perform.

We know so much from the official announcement. Unofficial officials from Zakopane admit that today they could not say more anyway, because … the city from TVP has not yet uploaded almost any details. Therefore, it is not known whether, as in the years 2016-2019, Zakopane will co-organize the event and will pay additional PLN 1 million to it, or whether it will only rent its area to television.

– The second scenario is more attractive for Zakopane, because if the television insists that it organizes a party with the audience, with infections reaching tens of thousands of new cases a day, we will be able to wash our hands of it – we hear in the circle of Zakopane officials. – If, on the other hand, the concert is a success, we will say that it is also our merit – they add.

What about the viewers?

Coming back to the event on Równia, the decision to organize it physically had to be taken literally at the last possible date. The construction department of the poviat starosty in Zakopane on Wednesday, December 1, did not give permission for the construction of the stage. Nevertheless, the work continues.

It is also not known whether the concert on the night of December 31st to January 1st will be able to be watched live by viewers, and if so, in what number. Currently, the law allows the public to participate in such events. Will the government not change the restrictions until then? This is not known.

The scene builder seems confident that won’t happen. The first barriers to separate sectors for the public have already been put in place on Wednesday. Their arrangement suggests that they will create an area that can accommodate at least several thousand people.

We also asked the TVP press office about the planned number of viewers at the concert in Zakopane. We are waiting for answer.

The highlanders are happy

Hoteliers and restaurateurs from Podhale are the happiest of the news that the construction of the stage has started. – We hope that after the information that the New Year’s Eve concert will take place in Poland, the last free rooms will be rented from us – says Jan Staszel, the owner of the guesthouse from Zakopane. – People like this concert because Kurski attracts artists who meet the tastes of our countrymen. And since we are all fed up with the pandemic, many people will come to Zakopane to even illusoryly “return to normal”, i.e. forget about COVID-19.
