TVN journalists were offered a PLN 1m bribe if they quit working on a cryptocurrency exchange report

Cryptocurrency exchanges operate outside of supervision – say the authors of the report. In the document they present a series of stories from around the world and the country, where the stock exchanges collapsed in strange circumstances or people responsible for trading giant sums melted in the air.

The document’s authors reveal that a criminal group operating on the Polish cryptocurrency market was previously responsible, among others for VAT fraud, pimping or robberies. Journalists hypothesize whether BitBay is trading dirty money from scams on the stock exchange.

Since the creation of the BitBay exchange, the main shareholders have been people associated with the criminal world. Journalists also found the trail of companies that operate in the Middle East and which are associated with BitBay.

Virtual currencies help to hide illegally acquired assets. The authors of the document claim that the answer to journalists’ allegations was the offer of a gigantic bribe – one million zlotys for journalists for resigning from work on the report. TVN24 journalists also encountered threats. They turned to the prosecutor’s office and the CBA for help.

The entire report can be seen on the “Supervisor” page.
