TV: Svanberg great hero against Roma

The Swedish national team midfielder Mattias Svanberg was in Bologna’s starting eleven for the home match against José Mourinho’s Roma in Italian Serie A on Wednesday night. Then a scout from the Premier League giant Manchester City was on site to see the Swede play, according to Football-Italia.

Then Svanberg also took the opportunity to show himself from his best side. With 34 minutes on the clock, he got the ball just over 30 meters from goal, advanced and fired a bouncing shot that found its way into the net behind Rui Patricio. The goal, which meant 1-0 for Bologna, was Svanberg’s third in Serie A this season in his 15th league match.

The match then ended 1-0 when Bologna took three important points and lifted to an eighth place – just one point behind five Roma.

The Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport reported in November that Svanberg is expected to renew its contract with Bologna in cowst to then be sold to a larger club for the summer. Svanberg, who turns 23 in January, currently has an agreement that expires in June 2023 and is stated to be worth just over SEK 150 million.

The inner midfielder joined Bologna from Malmö FF during the summer of 2018 and has scored a goal in 15 A-national matches for Sweden. Svanberg started against Georgia and jumped in against Spain in the World Cup qualifiers in November.
