TV Nova changes the broadcast format. You won’t lose your favorite shows like that

In mid-March, the transition to terrestrial digital broadcasting in the DVB-T2 standard was interrupted by a coronavirus pandemic. From June 22, the operation started again and the north-western part of the republic will receive a new broadcasting standard from Wednesday.

“Viewers will lose the Nova and Nova Cinema signals from terrestrial broadcasting in the Karlovy Vary region. The easiest way to get our programs back is to start automatic tuning on the TV,” advises Tomáš Rychtera, head of telecommunications.

This applies to those who use either so-called set-top boxes and DVB-T2-enabled televisions to receive the signal. To avoid retuning, switch to a satellite, cable, or Internet provider.

However, complications must be taken into account by viewers who use a common antenna in apartment and panel houses to receive the television signal. “There they need to adjust their common antenna antenna, a technician who will tune their frequencies to DVB-T2,” Rychtera informs.

In addition to the new final networks, so-called transient DVB-T2 networks are also running. “If the viewer tunes in programs and they have p behind the slash, they are temporarily placed programs and it is not final. If the viewer tunes in a program that Nova / T2 should have, then these are already final programs,” describes the head of telecommunications.

After the Ústí nad Labem Region, Sušice and Liberec are also waiting to switch off DVB-T at the end of July. Across the Czech Republic, the transition should be completed by the end of October this year.
