TV in DYFI strike case Rajesh and Riyaz in jail | Mohammad riyas

Kozhikode: CPM state committee member TV Rajesh MLA and DYFI national president P.A. Mohammad Riyaz, CPM district committee member KK Dineshan was remanded by the Magistrate’s Court. The action was taken in connection with the DYFI’s demonstration at the Kozhikode Air India office on September 6, 2010 against the increase in air fares and the reduction of air services. The case is under various sections, including destruction of public property. The court had earlier issued warrants against the accused for not appearing for the trial.

At the time of the strike, Riyaz was the district president and dynasty secretary of DYFI. TV, who was the state secretary. Rajesh inaugurated the strike. Many of the leaders on the list did not attend the trial. Former DYFI leaders Varun Bhaskar and C.M. Jamsheer later appeared in the local body elections and was released on bail. DYFI leader M.S. Gireesh had earlier been released by the court. Ahead of the Assembly elections, TV Rajesh, Riyaz and KK Dineshan had filed their bail applications in the high court but were directed to appear before the trial court on February 17. Accordingly, when he appeared in the Kozhikode Magistrate (4) court yesterday, his bail application was rejected and he was remanded.
