TV broadcaster falls for the wrong saying by Mario Basler

Mario Basler is known for his rough sayings. But: A TV station has now found a wrong quote from the ex-soccer star.

The TV station “Euronews” really got on the glue with the German comedian Fabian Köster. The Today Show comedian had posted an alleged quote from Basler on Facebook after the Sport1 “one-two” pass on Sunday, in which ex-soccer star Mario Basler was a guest. The subject: the vaccination debate about Bayern star Joshua Kimmich.

Köster writes: “The young guys there with their long-term studies, in my time there, hammered us the pog vaccination in the morning, middaachs malaria and in the evening 4 vodka-lemon popped in, and heudde come with concern, get vaccinated damn it again.” The problem: Basler never said that like that. “Euronews” reported it anyway.

Fabian Köster is celebrated on Twitter for his satirical success. He himself posts two more pictures and writes with a laughing smiley: “How it started, how it ended.”

In “Euronews” the error does not seem to have been noticed yet. The article can still be found (as of 10 p.m.) on the TV broadcaster’s homepage.
