The ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) in Ankara has confirmed the plans of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to visit Russia, revealing that the visit will take place next week, Daily Sabah newspaper reports.

“President (of Turkey) Recep Tayyip Erdogan is on his way to visit Russia next week and meet with the head of state of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, which could lead to progress in returning Moscow to the all-important grain deal,” announced the spokesman the Omer Celik party.

Earlier, Bloomberg, citing senior Turkish officials, reported that Erdogan plans to visit Russia on September 8 to discuss with Putin the renewal of the Ukrainian grain export agreement. At the same time, the administration of the Turkish president refused to comment.
