The Turkish authorities announced a military operation in northern Iraq. Its goal is to neutralize the PKK.

About it informs Ministry of Defense of Turkey.

“In accordance with our rights to self-defense, arising from Article 51 of the UN Charter, Operation Pençe-Kilit” (“Claw-Castle” – ed.) , the Ministry of Defense said in a statement.

Turkish authorities also reported airstrikes on hideouts, bunkers and caves where the Kurdistan Workers Party stored ammunition. The Ministry of Defense added that the operation is carried out in coordination “with friends and allies”, measures have been taken to ensure that the civilian population, historical and cultural objects, values, and the environment are not damaged.
