Turbine Potsdam achieved its second win in a row in the 2nd women’s football Bundesliga. The Brandenburg women won 1-0 on Sunday in front of 291 spectators against the previously unbeaten second-placed team FSV Gütersloh. Laura Lindner scored the winning goal for Turbine in the 68th minute after a cross from Adrienne Jordan.

The 29-year-old Lindner is actually captain of the second Turbine team and has played there primarily because of her professional obligations. But now they have found a good solution “in terms of training,” said coach Dirk Heinrichs in an interview with rbb|24. Lindner just has a nose for goals, “and if I have a player like that in the club, then I have to fall back on that,” he said.

Changing the system during the break is having an effect

Otherwise, Heinrichs was very satisfied with his team’s performance. He had to take responsibility for the weaker first half. The idea of surprising the opponent with an unfamiliar 4-4-2 system and deeper midfield pressing didn’t work and resulted in his team not having enough access. At least Viktoria Schwalm shot off the post in her 100th competitive game for Turbine (21st minute). At half-time they switched to the tried and tested 3-5-2 and played better from then on, said Heinrichs.

The unfamiliar artificial turf pitch, however, did not play a major role. It is true that he is unpredictable at times, especially in Gütersloh. But we also trained on a similar pitch during the week and that should never be used as an excuse.

Heinrichs: “That doesn’t look bad”

Overall, Heinrichs was satisfied with his team’s development: “When we have the ball, we don’t play bad football. That doesn’t look bad.” The team could only improve in the game against the ball, especially in their running behavior.

Thanks to the away win, Potsdam is now in ninth place in the table with six points from five games. Turbine continues on Sunday, October 8th (2 p.m.), then in the home game against the second team from Eintracht Frankfurt.
