Airline TUI sent a second plane to Suriname on Sunday to pick up stranded passengers. This because of one defect to another plane that landed on Thursday. This second aircraft arrived at Johan Adolf Pengel Airport on Sunday around 2.30 p.m. local time and departed at 6 p.m.

The flight from Paramaribo to Amsterdam was supposed to be operated on Friday evening, but was canceled due to a technical problem. The passengers then went to Zanderij on Saturday to leave, but that was canceled. Because they were in one room with returnees from Guyana, they had to be quarantined afterwards.

The plane first flew from Suriname to Aruba on Sunday to take stranded people back to the Netherlands. Some holidaymakers who live in Aruba and were stranded in Suriname also belong to the passengers. Then they fly to Amsterdam.

On the left the second aircraft, on the right the defective aircraft.

Travelers returning to the Netherlands paid 900 euros for this flight. The trip falls under a special arrangement that the Dutch government has introduced for returning stranded compatriots. It is a joint initiative of the travel industry, insurers, airlines and government, De Telegraaf writes.
