TSMC starts production of 3nm chips for Apple this week

According to a publication of the Asian newspaper DigiTimesTSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company) is planning a ceremony for tomorrow, at Fab 18, south of the Taiwan Science Park (STSP), where the mass production of the first chips manufactured at 3 nm will take place, and which will be destined for one of the the company’s biggest customers, Apple.

The chip that will debut this new manufacturing process is assumed to be the new Apple M2 Pro SoC, which is expected to be used in future MacBook 14, MacBook 16, Mac Studio and Mac Mini, which will be unveiled over the next year. Subsequently, this production process will be implemented in other factories, which will be essential for the production of the new A17 Bionic, which should equip the future iPhone 15.
