President Trump says he deduces from data that the United States is past the peak of corona infections. Tomorrow he will come up with measures to get the economy going again.
“The battle continues, but the data shows that our nation is past the peak of new infections,” he said during his daily press release at the White House. “We must remain vigilant, but it is clear that our aggressive approach works very well.”

Nowhere is the death toll of the coronavirus higher than in the US. More than 30,000 people have died. The US economy has also suffered a major blow: millions of Americans have lost their jobs.
Trump previously hinted that he wants companies to reopen. He said on Monday that he has the power to overrule state governors and put people to work if he wants to.
The president held a conference call with unions and business on Wednesday. The CEOs of Amazon, Facebook and Apple participated in this.
“Only if it’s safe”
Part of the conversation was the question of how to safely get the American economy going again. The president of one of the largest unions in the country, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, said he advised Trump not to open the economy again until it is safe.
