We see there from the first seconds a man driving a golf cart decorated with signs « Trump 2020 » and « America First » be apostrophied by protesters who call him “Racist”. The driver throws them « white power », rallying cry of the white supremacists. “White power, there you go, white power. Did you hear that? “, replies one of the demonstrators. Some of the anti-Trumps are screaming « nazi », “Racist” and verbally insult Trump supporters.
Donald Trump relayed the video with the message “Thank you to the super inhabitants of the Villages”, this community for people over 55 that hosts 115,000 residents in North Florida.
Embarrassment of supporters of the President
A few hours later, faced with the controversy that was starting to gain momentum in the media, Donald Trump deleted his retweet. “President Trump is a big fan of the Villages. He did not hear the message in this video. What he saw was incredible enthusiasm from his supporters ”, White House spokesperson Judd Deere responded.
“There is no doubt that Mr. Trump should not have retweeted the video and should have removed it (…). I think it is untenable “said Tim Scott, the only Republican black senator, during an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union”.
