On Monday, Russia recognized the two breakaway republics of Luhansk and Donetsk in eastern Ukraine as independent states. Trump was asked about the situation when he appeared on the American radio program Clay and Buck.

Condemnation and sanctions
On Monday, President Vladimir Putin announced the deployment of “peacekeeping forces.” On Tuesday, Russian elected officials gave the go-ahead for Russian forces to use military force outside Russia’s borders.
It all happens after the Russians for weeks have mustered tens of thousands of soldiers along the border with the neighbor in the southwest.
The aggression has met with widespread condemnation from the West. The United States, the European Union, the United Kingdom and Canada all imposed sanctions on Tuesday.
Trump said Putin’s tactics are smart. He went on to say, without elaborating further, that the United States could use similar tactics along the border with Mexico.
Criticized Biden
According to the former president, the whole Ukraine crisis could have been avoided if she had been handled in a “proper” way by his successor Joe Biden.
Trump tried to cultivate a close relationship with Russia and Putin when he was in the White House, and praised, among other things, the Russian president as a highly respected leader.
– I know Vladimir Putin very well, and he would never have done what he does now during the Trump administration. No chance, Trump said.
He believes that the US response, while Russia has stepped up its presence in the border area, has been weak.
– Now that it has started, the oil price is going up and up. Not only is Putin getting what he has always wanted, but he is getting richer and richer because of rising oil and gas prices, Trump said.
