Colombia National Team ensure a place in the semifinals America’s Cup 2021 after beating Uruguay in the quarterfinals. David Ospina cs won on penalties 4-2.
Uruguay vs Colombia will be held at the Estadio Nacional de Brasilia, Sunday (4/7/2021) morning WIB. Both teams appeared evenly matched throughout the 90 minutes of the match.
Uruguay recorded seven shots on goal (three on target) and 49 percent possession. Meanwhile, Colombia was able to record nine attempts (three of which were on target), and had 51 percent control of the ball.
Colombia almost opened the scoring before the first half ended. Duvan Zapata shot the ball from a tight angle, but his effort was blocked by Fernando Muslera.
No goals were scored until the break. The first half closed with a score of 0-0 glasses.
Both Uruguay and Colombia increased the tempo of the game in the second half to break the deadlock. Uruguay threatened through Giorgian de Arrascaeta’s shot in the 57th minute. The ball can be anticipated by David Ospina.
Colombia hit back in the 65th minute. Luis Muriel sent the ball into the penalty box which was greeted by Yerry Mina’s header. The ball can be pushed over by Muslera.
Colombia got another chance in the air in the 73rd minute. Zupata’s header in front of goal was again able to be dammed by Muslera.
Both teams failed to score again until the second half ended. The winner was determined by penalty shootout.
Colombia won the high-fives 4-2 after Ospina successfully parried the executions of Jose Gimenez and Matias Vina. Tricolor follows Peru and Brazil to the 2021 Copa America semifinals.
