In 2018, rapper XXXTentacion, born Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy, was murdered in cold blood at his car in Miami. The perpetrators first threatened him with weapons and after a fight fired a fatal shot. They grabbed a bag of $50,000 from XXXTentacion’s car, money the musician had just withdrawn from the bank.
His death followed just as he was achieving great success with his music: his latest album debuted at number one on the Billboard album charts and his hit single ‘Sad!’ was on the Hot 100 list for seven weeks. The thousands of fans of XXXTentacion and the music industry were therefore shocked by the early passing of the rapper.
Boatwright, Williams and Newsome face life in prison. They will receive their final sentence on April 6.
