Transport – Frankfurt am Main – tram connection from Offenbach is being examined – economy

Frankfurt / Offenbach (dpa / lhe) – With the tram from Frankfurt to Offenbach – that could be possible in the future. With a feasibility study, the two cities and the Rhein-Main-Verkehrsbund (RMV) want to examine a connection between Offenbach’s urban area and the Frankfurt tram network. The city of Offenbach announced on Monday. For this purpose, a study that has already been started by the city of Frankfurt is to be expanded. According to the announcement, the study will cost around 140,000 euros, shared between the RMV and the cities.

“In the closely interwoven Rhine-Main region, we can only find solutions to the traffic problems in our region together,” said Offenbach’s head of mobility, Sabine Groß. Above all, Offenbach wanted to have a look at how a connection to the city center and the main train station could take place, said Paul-Gerhard Weiß, head of the transport department. The district ofügel is also part of the investigation. However, rapid implementation is not to be expected. “Transport projects have a long planning and construction time and they are very expensive,” said Weiß and Groß. The feasibility study is all the more important, as the results are an important prerequisite for planning future solutions.
