“We conclude that the virus is likely to be more contagious. But we found no evidence of the effects of G614 exacerbating COVID-19,” Biologist Bette Korber, of Los Alamos National Laboratory, was quoted as saying by CNN on Friday (07/03/2020).
Currently researchers are trying to find out whether G614 can be controlled by vaccines. Meanwhile, the G614 mutation is claimed to be neutralized with recovery serum taken from a blood sample of COVID-19 survivors.
On the other hand, the researchers caution, because the spread of mutations is faster, a higher immune system is needed so that it is not easily infected with the virus.
