Train traffic in the Netherlands is slowly starting up again after a major failure

Due to a fault in the GSM-R network at ProRail traffic control, the rail network in the Netherlands was largely at a standstill this afternoon. The GSM-R network is mainly used in communication between drivers and traffic control. Due to the malfunction, communication was temporarily not possible, making it unsafe for drivers to continue driving. In the meantime, the fault has been manually rectified.
