Train Accident Disrupts Rail Traffic at Lyon Railway Junction – October 26 Incident Updates

It was almost 7 a.m. Thursday October 26 when a person was hit and injured by a train at La Guillotière station. Since then, rail traffic has been severely disrupted at the railway junction.

Big mess this Thursday, October 26 at the Lyon railway junction. Train traffic is very delayed, or even stopped due to an accident. According to SNCF services, a person was hit by a train around 7 a.m. at Guillotière station in Lyon, heading towards Vénissieux.

According to information collected by Lyon Capitale, the person hit by the train is a 60-year-old man who was wandering on the tracks. Fortunately, he was only slightly injured during the accident and was able to be transported off the tracks by the firefighters.

East of Lyon mainly affected

On the side of the SNCF, it is specified that this accident has significant consequences on the trains circulating on “the Lyon railway junction, mainly to the east of Lyon, on the Lyon-Grenoble line“. Traffic is notably interrupted on the Lyon-Grenoble and Lyon-Chambéry axes and the Jean-Macé station is no longer served. If trains continue to run towards Saint-Étienne or from Mâcon and Villefranche -sur-Saône delays should be noted.

While waiting for a return to normal, after this incident which occurred in a station which does not welcome passengers, the SNCF invites its users to obtain information live on its X feed (formerly Twitter). Around 8 a.m., the railway company’s services hoped that traffic would resume around 9 a.m., the person having been evacuated from the tracks.
