According to the official release of the United States Navy Pacific Fleet, reported by VIVA Military, Wednesday, September 1, 2021, the helicopter that suffered the tragic fate was the Sikorsky MH-60S Seahawk.
“Helicopter MH-60S aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) crashed into the sea during routine flight operations approximately 60 nautical miles off the coast of San Diego at 4:30 p.m. PST,” US Pacific Fleet said.
