The tragedy of the death of the one-year-old child, Asaad Mustafa Ezz El-Din, has turned into a public opinion problem on the hospital situation faced by the Lebanese in general and by the Bekaa population in particular, after the news of the death has spread last night, especially since his father – a member of the security forces – accompanied him for long hours inside. In his car, he was taken between area hospitals without finding a single bed to care for the children after his health deteriorated due to severe diarrhea and a high fever.
The child’s family lives in the town of Arsal, precisely in the center of the Baalbek-Hermel region, where the region faces severe chronic neglect, which is reflected in the hospital situation – by way of example but not limited to – which is limited to the hospital role. within the town, which has over 35,000 people, without forgetting the tens of thousands of displaced people, divided into two clinics whose role does not go beyond first aid.
What happened last night, according to what the victim’s family confirmed, was that the child had suffered a deterioration in his health condition, so his father admitted him to the Auda hospital in Arsal, which contains limited equipment, without any result, amid the deteriorating condition of the child, so the father transferred him to the university hospital Dar Al-Amal, where he was only received in the emergency room, without entering the intensive care unit for newborns until the age of a year, despite the child having difficulty breathing and despite the father’s work to advance sums of money that did not allow him to save his son, who occasionally loses consciousness in his hands, so it was impossible to secure a nursing bed , for him to be rushed to Baalbek Governmental Hospital, who told him proper equipment was not available, and then moved to Rayak General Hospita l to deliver the baby Izz al-Din al-Rouh before he reached it.
