Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) – Before the next federal-state round on the corona pandemic, retailers in Baden-Württemberg have again vehemently demanded an opening perspective for their industry. “The situation is dramatic and is becoming more dramatic every day,” complained the general manager of the trade association, Sabine Hagmann, on Wednesday. Association president Hermann Hutter said that dealers should now know whether they could buy goods and for which season they could buy goods. “It is an intolerable situation for us,” he criticized. Although compensation has now been received – too little and too late. “What we need is a clear perspective,” said Hutter.
Retail and city centers are currently suffering from the week-long lockdown with the closure of restaurants and many retail stores. The lockdown was last extended by the federal and state governments until March 7th. Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) and the Prime Ministers want to discuss how to proceed on March 3rd.
One had the impression of having to serve as a “We stay at home!” Symbolism, criticized fashion retailer Friedrich Kolesch from Biberach an der Riss. To be able to compensate for the loss of sales due to the closure in other ways is an illusion. With pick-up offers or online sales, he makes about 15 percent of his usual turnover – “but with extremely high effort”.
